Hi! I would like to announce that I am now an athlete for Right to Play! Right to Play is a great, non-profit company that provides resources for underprivileged kids of 26 different impoverished nations around the world to play. Studies have proven that physical activity of youth contributes to childrens' physical and psychological health, even in some cases increasing brain capacity. For some kids unfortunately "play" is not easy - instead of being able to enjoy a fun-filled childhood, they face work and poverty in oppressed conditions. Right to Play enables kids like these their rightful grant to play through fundraisers and advocacy. For further information, check out www.righttoplay.com.It's an international organization that is committed to improving the lives of youth around the world!

Results from Bouldering Nationals
By Sasha DiGiulian on Monday, 1 March 2010, 21:04
Bouldering Nationals were fun! I placed 4th behind Alex Puccio, Alex Johnson, and Francesca Metcalf. There was a strong field of both men and women at the competition, and it was exciting to watch everyone else climb. I also had a big entourage staying at my house was a lot of fun! At my house I had Alex Johnson, Cicada Jenerik, Sera Buse, Marah Bragdon, Daniel Woods, Gabor Szekely, Courtney Sanders, Scott Jenerik, Eric Givens, Alex Puccio, Carlo Traversi, and sleeping somewhere else, but always at my house as well was Magnus and Erik Paulsen. The weekend was pretty hectic, but very nice to see all my friends! Daniel Woods placed first in the men’s field, Matt Bosley 2nd and Rob D’Anastasio 3rd. For full results and video coverage please see this link!
This week I am flying up to Boston to film with Big Up Productions at a new gym that will be opening, so once the video is produced, I’ll put up a link!
Best of luck to everyone, and stay psyched ☺

Bouldering National Championships
By Sasha DiGiulian on Wednesday, 10 February 2010, 18:24
Hey Everyone!
Friday is the first day of the bouldering national championships which will be held at Sport Rock in Alexandria, VA. The event will take place over 3 days including both an adult competition and youth nationals. I am really excited about this because for once i don't need to travel far for a big competition!
Unfortunately, we have been experiencing major snow storms this past week and flights are going to be getting delayed. To all the athletes coming in for the event, good luck getting here! Also, my house is already a climber-hostel, but I figure why not just pack in more.. so if anyone needs a place to stay which will be warm and have food, email me!
Non-climbers- if you happen to be somewhere around the DC area this weekend, you should definitely come watch the event!

HEART OF STEEEEEL
By Sasha DiGiulian on Monday, 1 February 2010, 12:11
Hello All!!
Yesterday was the HEART OF STEEL bouldering competition in Woburn, Massachusetts. This competition was held at the BRG.
It was an amazingly cool competition. So much hype, so much $ for prizes, and so many people!
First there was a qualifying round where each competitor had to try and climb their 6 hardest red point boulder problems. Following this, the top 3 men and women were selected to compete in finals. Finals was not any ordinary finals round..!
There were 2 sets of boulder problems. On the wall, there was $400 for each competitor. The goal of the climber in finals was to collect as much of that money on the wall as they could. The winnings that the competitor earned depended on how much they could scavenge off of the wall. The boulder problems were long and very different from any other bouldering problems I have ever climbed in a competition before! There were many cool features such as a swinging diamond feature that we had to jump to and swing off of. The winner got to have all of the money that his/her other competitiors didnt manage to grab off of the wall. The winner was the one who collected the most money, which basically consisted of sending the endurancey boulder problem! I tied for first with Francesca Metcalf, a good friend of mine who lives in Boston. We both gathered all of our money!! Vasya Vorotnikov took the total purse for the guys!

Salt Lake City.. Adult Nationals
By Sasha DiGiulian on Monday, 1 February 2010, 03:21
Hello!
I traveled to SLC, Utah this past weekend to compete in the U.S. Adult National Championships for sport climbing. It was a great competition, well set, and lots of strong climbers. The competition ran parallel to the winter trade show going on down town at the Salt Palace, so many spectators came from the show to watch the competition.
Nationals began on Friday with 2 qualifying routes. Paige Claasen (one of my really strong competitors) and I were the only ones to send both of our routes in the women category. For the men, Magnus Midtboe was the only male to send both qualifier routes. Finals followed on Saturday night.
Saturday night finals consisted of 1 route to onsight. I was the only one to send this route so I became the new national champ of 2010 =]
I was really excited!!
